The Maskhandi, Mjaheni (Zakhele Shelembe), rooted himself as one of the vanguard of the South African focusing on traditional music. He has assembled a great band called Uzakhele which he takes to every live performance, a very same band that perfomed along him at ETV morning live show in 2016.

guitar vs guitar
Two guitarists of note
They might be coming from different music genres but there’s’ one thing in common between the two artists and that is the musical instrument they play, a guitar. Zahara is a well-known Afro-soul musician, a hit maker of the song ‘LOLIWE’. On one side Zahara plays a guitter like nobody’s’ business and as if her life depends on it! A very talented ‘young’ woman who, so far, has released a total of five music albums. Zakhele Shelembe on the other side has an exquisite test in the Zulu blues, the Maskhandi genre and has so far released two music albums under his belt, titled, ‘LENDABA YOCWASANA & ‘OBHOXODAKENI’, OBHOXODAKENI being the latest one.
The two are seen together here after Zakhele had written a very special song dedicated to Zahara in his new album (OBHOXODAKENI). The song praises this prolific musician, in this regard it was well received by Zahara, and hence she requested to meet with this young and talented musician. The two guitarists were seen demonstrating a few skills and for obvious reasons it is still premature to suggest that a duet is looming. Zahara has collaborated with a variety of musicians before, the likes of Soweto Gospel Choir, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, etc… therefore, watch the space!
OBHOXODAKENI is a 12 track album that can be purchased in various music outlets country wide.
